Ashtanga Inspired
This class explores the traditional Ashtanga yoga practice, and includes the meditative quality of moving with your breath through Sun Salutations, an accessible standing sequence of classic yoga postures, and a great variety of seated postures.
We will explore different areas of the traditional sequence of Primary and Second series with gradual variations for all levels.
By attending this class you will start to become familiar with a wonderful rhythmic sequence that you can take with you anywhere. A perfect combination of stretch and strength, this class is perfect for anyone wanting to dive deeper into their yoga practice and discover new possibilities of postures, movement, and breath. (It is recommended you have some experience with yoga and are familiar with Sun Salutations).
Yoga for Backs
Using the principles and specialized props developed for Critical Alignment Therapy, this class works to relieve strain and tension in the body by using long holds in therapeutic postures. Once tension has been released, we start to develop more effective movement patterns in the body. This class is beneficial for anyone working through injury, chronic pain, or repetitive stress injuries, or just simply looking for relaxation. You will gain a greater sense of body awareness, a release of muscular tension, possible pain reduction, and an improved feeling of physical wellness. This is a great class for beginners!
Yoga for Backs & Beyond
Restore & Yoga Nidra
A perfect combination for body and mind, this is the ultimate class for anyone desiring deep relaxation. The class will begin with a few long held supported postures to allow the body and mind to unwind and quiet from the busyness of the day. Once we have settled into relaxation, we will prepare for Yoga Nidra in a comfortable supported supine position. Yoga Nidra uses a guided meditation to take your mind into a profound state of repose using visualizations and deep relaxation techniques.
Yoga Philosophy
How can we take our yoga practice off of our mat and into our world? Join Ian and Emily for tea and discussion (and often homemade cookies!) one Friday every month as they take a look at some of the philosophies of the yoga practice. This is a casual environment for open discussion, questions, and discovery. All are welcome. Cost is by donation.
Virtual Classes
Join us from the comfort of your own home. We are offering Live Streaming on many of our regular classes each week! Many of our classes will require yoga props such as a blanket, block, fabric strap, and/or spinal strap.
***Please note that we are subject to the woes of technology and things may go awry. The instructor may not always be teaching from the front of the room and you may have to rely on verbal instruction only. Live stream is a great supplement and support to your practice, but will never be as good as the real in-person thing.
